Introduction:
In the face of the pressing requirement for a clean energy transition worldwide, it is imperative to acknowledge the significant role that young people can have in propelling this change forward. The "Youth Energy Competition" is a distinctive initiative that aims to unite young energy experts from diverse domains to cooperate in devising sustainable energy ideas and solutions for the future of the MENA region. This hackathon-style program presents not only an exciting opportunity for students to apply their learned knowledge and ingenuity to practical challenges, but also endeavors to equip the upcoming generation of bright young minds with expanding technical and operational competencies, as well as fostering a community of innovation and collaboration.

Rules:
The "Youth Energy Competition" a hackathon-style competition program that allows young energy leaders from various fields to come together and develop sustainable energy concepts and solutions. This year's theme is "Advancing Hydrogen Integration in MENA's Energy System," and it has two competing categories: the Technology Stream and the Knowledge Stream.
The Technology Stream centers on leveraging disruptive technologies to facilitate the integration of hydrogen into the region's energy system, while the Knowledge Stream focuses on utilizing knowledge related to governance, law, finance, and other relevant aspects to promote regulatory or operational process efficiency.
The competition is open to all young people at universities, including university students and early career researchers who have graduated within 3 years after obtaining their PhDs. Each team should be composed of 3-5 students, and a maximum of 2 teams per university per stream will be accepted. It is mandatory for teams to pre-register before October 20, 2023, for validation by the organizer. The selection process will be carried out in two rounds.
The first round requires the submission of your portfolio or idea, which must be presented on no more than 3 pages (Text, Design, Schematic, Illustration), before January 30, 2024. During this phase, the organizer will pre-select the top entries from January 31 to February 28 and choose three groups each stream. The shortlisted teams will be invited to an on-site presentation, where the final winners will be decided by a panel of live judges.
